The short version

Bing Webmaster Tools is the free, first-party view of how Bing treats a verified site. SEO by Daniel audits the site itself and returns a scored report a freelancer can hand to a client.

Competitor: Bing Webmaster Tools · Pricing checked August 2026 from their site

Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft's free console for how a site performs in Bing. You verify the domain, submit a sitemap, and get first-party data on impressions, clicks and index coverage in Microsoft's engine. SEO by Daniel is a different shape of tool: a no-account scan that scores a homepage in about two seconds, and a €19/month report a freelancer can hand to a client. One reports Bing's view of the site. The other audits the site and puts a number on it.

Where Bing Webmaster Tools wins

  • First-party Bing data. Impressions, clicks and index coverage come straight from Microsoft rather than an estimate. Nothing else gives you that for Bing.
  • Index management. Sitemap submission and index reporting are built in, so you can tell Bing about new URLs and see which ones it picked up.
  • It is free. There is no subscription and no separate licence for the engine it reports on.
  • Bing still sends traffic. Older audiences and desktop users are over-represented here. If Bing is part of the mix, this is the only console that shows it.
  • No extra setup once verified. The data is waiting when you log in; you do not configure a crawl.

Where SEO by Daniel wins

  • No verification, no account. Drop a domain and get a 0-100 homepage score in about two seconds. Bing Webmaster Tools shows you nothing until you prove ownership.
  • It audits the site, not the index. Titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, redirect chains and page weight, scored and grouped by severity.
  • Sitemap auto-discovery. We read robots.txt, follow nested sitemap indexes and handle gzipped files, so the crawl finds the whole site without you pasting a sitemap URL.
  • Client-ready output. A scored report with an executive summary and CSV export. Bing Webmaster Tools is an internal console, not a document you would send to a client.
  • Continuous monitoring. We re-scan on a schedule and catch regressions at €19/month. Bing Webmaster Tools shows data only when you log in.

A real example

A Laravel freelancer takes on a client with a small e-commerce site. The client has already verified the domain in Bing Webmaster Tools and submitted the sitemap. The console shows about a third of the product URLs as discovered but not indexed. It lists the URLs, not the reason. There is no title check, no duplicate-content diagnosis, nothing to act on.

The freelancer runs the domain through SEO by Daniel before asking for Bing access. The homepage scores 58. The report flags 17 product pages sharing one generic title template, nine missing meta descriptions, and a redirect chain on the checkout path. None of that appears in Bing Webmaster Tools, because BWT reports crawl status, not on-page quality.

They fix the templates, then return to Bing Webmaster Tools a week later and resubmit the sitemap. The indexed count climbs. The two tools did separate jobs: one told them which URLs Bing had parked, the other told them why those pages were worth indexing.

The verdict

When to pick which

Pick Bing Webmaster Tools if Bing traffic matters and you want first-party data on how Microsoft's index treats a site you own or manage. It is free and there is no real substitute for it.

Pick SEO by Daniel when the question is what is wrong with the site rather than what Bing has indexed, or when you need a scored report and cannot wait for verification. Most people run both. The useful difference is that SEO by Daniel's quick scan works on any domain, including a prospect's, which Bing Webmaster Tools never will.

FAQ

Does SEO by Daniel replace Bing Webmaster Tools? No. BWT is the only place to see first-party Bing index and click data. SEO by Daniel audits the site itself. They answer different questions.

Do I need to verify a site to use SEO by Daniel? No. A free scan runs on any domain with no account. The full report and monitoring sit behind the €19/month plan.

Which one tells me why pages are not indexed in Bing? Neither one directly. Bing Webmaster Tools tells you which URLs are not indexed. SEO by Daniel tells you the on-page issues that often cause it, such as duplicated titles or thin content.
