The short version

GSC is an essential free complement, not a competitor. It shows what Google did with a site; SEO by Daniel scores the pages and says what to fix.

Competitor: Google Search Console · Pricing checked August 2026 from their site

Google Search Console is Google's free console for search performance and index coverage. You verify the domain, then get queries, impressions, clicks, average position and coverage reports. SEO by Daniel is a no-account scan and a scored report. GSC tells you how Google is treating the site. SEO by Daniel tells you what is wrong with the pages themselves. They are complements, and almost nobody should run one without the other.

Where Google Search Console wins

  • First-party query data. Impressions and clicks come from Google directly, not from a third-party estimate.
  • Index coverage. It shows which URLs Google has indexed and why the rest were excluded, which is the only authoritative source for that.
  • Sitemap submission. You feed URLs straight into Google's pipeline and watch them get picked up.
  • It is free. There is no close substitute for the numbers it holds.

Where SEO by Daniel wins

  • No verification. Drop a domain and get a 0-100 homepage score in about two seconds. GSC needs file or DNS verification and a wait before it shows anything.
  • On-page diagnosis. GSC tells you a page lost impressions. SEO by Daniel tells you the title runs to 78 characters and the meta description is missing.
  • One score for the whole site. GSC reports per-URL and per-query. SEO by Daniel returns a single 0-100 homepage number a non-technical client understands at a glance.
  • Sitemap auto-discovery. We read robots.txt, follow nested indexes and handle gzipped sitemaps, so a prospect's site can be crawled before you have access.
  • A scored, client-ready report. Executive summary, issues grouped by severity and CSV export, none of which GSC produces.
  • Continuous monitoring. We flag regressions on a schedule, independent of Google's reporting delay.

A real example

A Laravel freelancer gets a call from a client: clicks in Google Search Console are down 30% over two months. GSC shows the drop clearly and names the queries that lost impressions. It does not say why, because GSC measures Google's outcome, not the quality of the page that earned it.

The freelancer runs the domain through SEO by Daniel during the call. The homepage scores 71. The crawl finds that a migration two months earlier left 42 internal links pointing at the old URL structure, and every one of them now redirects through two hops. The same release stripped meta descriptions from the blog template. GSC saw the symptom; the audit found the cause.

They fix the internal links and restore the descriptions. GSC confirms the recovery over the following weeks, which is the part it is best at. The two tools never overlapped, which is the point: one is the scoreboard, the other is the inspection.

The verdict

| | Google Search Console | SEO by Daniel | | --- | --- | --- | | Source of truth | Google's own query data | On-page and technical audit | | Access | Verification required | Any domain, no account | | Output | Dashboards and coverage reports | Scored report + CSV | | Time to first signal | Days after verification | About two seconds | | Explains why a page lost clicks | No | Yes | | Price | Free | Free scan / €19/mo |

When to pick which

Use Google Search Console on every site you own or manage. It is free and it is the only source of Google's impression and click data. Skipping it is not a serious option.

Use SEO by Daniel when you need to know why the numbers moved, or when you need a scored report for a client and cannot get GSC access. The quick scan works on any domain, which makes it useful in a pitch before verification is even possible. Run GSC for what Google did, SEO by Daniel for what the pages need. If you present to clients who do not read coverage reports, the score is usually the only number they remember.

FAQ

Does SEO by Daniel show keyword data like GSC? No. It audits pages, not queries. GSC remains the only source of Google's impression and click data.

Can I audit a client site before I get GSC access? Yes. SEO by Daniel runs on any domain with no verification, which is useful in a first call or a proposal.

Is GSC enough on its own? No. GSC tells you what Google did with the site. It does not score the pages or tell you which title tags to rewrite.
